Back on the mainland, starving. We collapse into a booth and order too much Thai food before the drive back to town.
Out to Kaldi
We drive thirty minutes up the fjord to Árskógssandur, where the country's first microbrewery has been quietly running since 2006.
Bjórböðin
We soak in tubs of warm beer, hops and yeast for half an hour, with cold Kaldi on tap right at the edge of the bath.
Dinner upstairs
We stay for dinner at the spa restaurant looking out over Eyjafjörður, slow-cooked lamb and whatever the kitchen sends out.

Fifteen minutes across the fjord on a tiny ferry. We stand outside the whole way even if it's freezing.
